19 February 2019 I Police in Sydney’s inner west have charged a man for allegedly hiding camera in a young couple’s bedroom and “film person in private act without consent”.

A woman contacted police after the hidden camera was allegedly found yesterday in a smoke detector in the ceiling of her apartment bedroom in Burwood, NSW Police Force said today in a press statement.

Officers from Burwood Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the matter and executed a crime scene warrant yesterday at the couple’s apartment.

As a result, a 24-year-old man was arrested, police said, for planting the hidden camera at the address on Burwood’s Wilga Street.

Police will allege that the accused, who shared the apartment with the victim as well as two other occupants, secretly installed the camera in the smoke detector.

The man was charged with “install/use etc device record conversation not party to and film person in private act without consent”.

The alleged offender was granted conditional bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on March 3.
