14 December 2019 I Bollywood veteran Manisha Koirala threw a massive party last Thursday to celebrate her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary. Her father, Prakash Koirala, is a former government minister and the son of late BP Koirala.
Himani Shah, among many high-profile personalities from various walks of Kathmandu life, also graced the moment. A social media video shows the former princess supporting Koirala siblings as they sang “happy anniversary” to Prakash and Sushma Koirala.
The Bollywood actress treated her guests with the soulful music of Sur Sudha, Nepal’s most known ensemble. Lead artist of the group, Surendra Shrestha, wrote on his Facebook wall that the former princess showed interest in learning sitar.
Although her great-uncle Girija Prasad Koirala was instrumental in getting rid of Nepal’s constitutional monarchy, Prakash Koirala had closer ties with the royal palace and actually served as a government minister for King Gyanendra.
As much as for her acting prowess, Manisha Koirala has lately been recognised for her cancer-busting positivism. The Dil Se actor’s battle against cancer and her subsequent victory has been detailed in her autobiographical book The Healed. Miss Koirala was recently in Australia to talk about Healed at a book festival.
