26 November 2019 I Nepal has received Country of the Year Award 2019 for being the best nation in Asia for its breathtaking mountaineering adventures.

According to a press statement by the Embassy of Nepal in Malaysia, the Award was presented at the Top Asia Corporate Ball 2019 organised by the Research House of Asia (RHA) Media.

The rank was confirmed by carrying out various research surveys on five shortlisted Asian countries for the “Asia’s Best Nation for Mountaineering Adventures” category, the embassy said.

Malaysia’s Deputy Minister for Tourism, YB Tuan Muhammad Bakhtar bin Wan Chik, presented the Award to Nepalese ambassador to Malaysia, Uday Raj Panday.

According to the Embassy, the Award ceremony was attended by Asia’s Who’s Who.

Tourism entrepreneurs in the Himalayan nation would naturally expect the Award to perhaps minimise the effects of a widespread negative reportage earlier in the year when Western media outlets ran deluge of reports on the “traffic jam” near the summit of Mt Everest, the backbone of Nepal’s tourism industry.
