Travel giant TripAdvisor has ranked the Nepalese capital city the 19th most beautiful tourism destination of the world.

The only other South Asian destination to be included in the list of top 25 destinations is the historic Indian city of Jaipur, which is ranked the 20th. “Nepal’s capital is situated in a valley full of historic sites, ancient temples and shrines, golden pagodas and fascinating villages. Hotels, bars and restaurants cater to all budgets. Shops offer handicrafts, carpets and Nepali paper prints. Bus services, taxis and bicycles open up the city. Trek to see the Monkey Temple, the valley’s oldest and most sacred shrine. Mingle with locals and animals amid Durbar Square’s monuments and temples, or join mountain trekkers in the bustling Thamel District,” reads the introductory pitch on the website of TripAdvisor.

According to the website, three things tourists must not miss in Kathmandu are Garden of Dreams, Kopan Monastery and Pashupatinath Temple. The website has also listed 1682 other things that visitors to the Himalayan nation could do.

The number one listed in the top 25 destinations is London while Paris comes second and Rome the third.
