10 February 2019: Nepalese cricket sensation Sandeep Lamichhane has once again proven he is worth the international attention by snaring three wickets at a stunning economy rate of 3.00.
The three wickets he claimed today at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Sydney Sixers means Mr Lamichhane has now a total of 11 BBL wickets to his credit. His captain, Glenn Maxwell, scored an impressive 82 runs off 43 balls giving Sixers a target of 169 runs.
Mr Lamichhane scored his first wicket in his very first over while conceding just one run to Sydney Sixers. He could not take any wicket in his second over but the third over was again a repetition of the first: one wicket, one run. He finished off Sydney Sixers at just 74 runs as he delivered his the fourth ball of his final over.
With today’s significant win, Melbourne Stars has progressed into the semi finals where it would take on Hobart Hurricanes at the Blundstone Arena on February 14.
Today’s match between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Sixers was the Nepalese cricket prodigy’s sixth BBL game. His fifth game last Friday against Brisbane Heat was the only game when he could not score any wicket.
Chasing a target of 169 runs set by Melbourne Stars, Sydney Sixers were all out at just 13.4 overs scoring only 74 runs. Sandeep Lamichhane’s team mates Adam Zampa and Daniel Worrall scored two wickets each making significant contribution to their team’s comfortable win.
Sandeep Lamichhane returned to BBL from his games in Bangladesh and UAE only recently. His time away from Australia meant he did not have the opportunity to play all the games of the KFC Big Bash League in which case his overall scores would most likely look much different, his fans says.
