Big Bash League: Sandeep Lamichhane’s first game without any wicket

8 February 2019: Nepalese cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane failed to take any wicket for the very first time since he started his Big Bash League journey causing serious “frustration” among his fellow-Nepalese fans across Australia.

His team, Melbourne Stars, lost by ten wickets to the Brisbane Heat. In all of his previous games, Sandeep had been allocated four overs but captain Glenn Maxwell kept the 18-year-old at two overs during Friday’s match.

Mr Lamichhane caught Australian cricket-lovers’ attention after he took 8 wickets from four games before he left for Bangladesh Premier League.

Hundreds of Nepalese-speaking cricket enthusiasts were at the Gabba today who clearly supported Melbourne Stars despite being Brisbane locals.

According to Dr Bharat Raj Paudel, a Brisbane local and a southasia.com.au associate, there was initially a good presence of Nepalese-Australians. However, as hopes dwindled for Melbourne Stars, most left the stadium even before the game came to an end.
