27 December 2018: A combination of Sandeep Lamichhane’s economy bowling and his continuing campaign of wicket-taking gets Melbourne Stars its first taste of victory in this year’s KFC Big Bash League.
The teenage sensation from Nepal took two wickets against Sydney Sixers today playing a pivotal role in ensuring the Star’s first BBL win this season. Mr Lamichhane claimed the wickets of Moises Henriques and Tom Curran, both lbw, to finish 2-18.
He debuted against Sydney Thunder with two wickets to his credit and then he took three wickets against Hobart Hurricane but his team had lost both games.
However, it all changed today due to Sandeep Lamichhane’s continuing form coupled with Peter Handscomb smashing 70 runs off 35 balls.
The 18-year-old Nepali cricketing star is so far leading the board by taking the highest number of wickets in the ongoing KFC BBL. He had made a stunning debut last week by taking two wickets in the very first over he bowled against Sydney Thunder.
A large crowd of Nepali-speaking Australians had gathered at the SCG to watch their favourite fellow-Nepal play against the Sydney Sixers.
