Young Nepal woman dies in Sydney, police investigating “into the circumstances of the death”

27 December 2018: Police in New South Wales continue to investigate the death of a young Nepal woman who died in Sydney’s southwest last Saturday.

It is understood the 23-year-old was initially found “unresponsive” at an address in Bankstown and authorities were alerted.

Police told southasia.com.au that emergency services were called to the Chapel Road address at around 8:45 pm on December 22.

“The woman was taken to Bankstown Hospital however was pronounced dead about 9.35pm,” NSW Police said.

Responding to a question on the nature of her death, police indicated that investigations “into the circumstances of the death” are currently ongoing and that further comments on the matter aren’t available at this stage of the inquiry.

Officers from Bankstown Police Area Command are still continuing the investigation days after the tragic incident.

It was not immediately known if the Nepali woman was an international student in Australia or if she was on any other type of visa. NSW Police Force did not comment on the subject due to its usual policy of not releasing visa status of individuals.
