A youth in Nepal’s Bhaktapur district killed his wife and dumped her body in a river all because she received too many calls on her mobile phone from ‘other youths’.
What is more, the loss of life occurred within an hour of the couple reconciling in the presence of local police.
Jabir Ansari, originally from Siraha district, and his wife Sahadaji Khatun had reached Balkot Police Station on Thursday after they fought over her frequently taking calls on her mobile phone. There, they reached some sort of agreement and appeared to have left in reconciliation.
However, he ended up killing her on the way home. Nayaptrika Daily said she was killed within an hour of the agreement reached at the police station. It appears Anasari was overcome by anger when she received yet another call from some youth as they returned home. He took her to a nearby field and started beating her up. When Khatun died, he dumped her body returning to the crime scene later with his sister-in-law to dispose of the body.
The accused, who the daily said has already admitted to the killing, was arrested on Friday from Kalopul area of the capital city where he was reportedly hiding at the sister-in-law’s place.
Citing DSP Bhimkiran Bogati, the daily said Ansari’s sister-in-law, Monika Chaudhary, has also been arrested.
Police said the age difference (the husband was 20 year old while the wife was 30) between the two also could have contributed to their troubled relationship. They had eloped two years ago and Ansari was Khatun’s third husband, Nayapatrika said.
Ansari’s trouble began when police found the body of the victim at the river banks on Friday.
