Employee of an Indian restaurant, who requested anonymity, told southasia.com.au she heard from her friends that ‘six shots’ were fired ‘into the air’ during the incident. The restaurant she works for is close to the location of the incident.

A statement from NSW Police Force confirmed the shooting, “About 2.35pm (Saturday 18 April 2015), police were advised that a number of shots were fired towards a business in Wigram Street.”

No one was injured in the shooting.

Details are yet to emerge as police continue to investigate the incident. The street is currently closed off by the police.

UPDATE: The shots were fired into an ‘immigration consultancy firm’ with three people inside cowering for cover, reports since indicated. Yadu Singh, the spokesperson for Indian Australian Association of NSW, told 9News that he did not believe the shooting was racially motivated.

The street is usually bustling with happy families enjoying some of the most popular restaurants in Sydney!
