An Indian national has died after falling from the balcony of a Sydney apartment on April 2, Thursday. NSW Police said the incident occurred at Macquarie Park, Sydney’s north-west, less than 300 metres from Macquarie University.
ABC Television reported the railing of the floor from which the victim fell was missing prompting speculations whether or not the site had railing in the first place.
The man was apparently talking to his wife when the tragic accident took place. Social media posts indicated the deceased came to Australia mid-March and was living at the address temporarily until his wife arrived from India.
Emergency services were called to the unit on Cottonwood Crescent around 1 am after the man fell from the balcony. “On arrival, NSW Ambulance Paramedics located a man in his 30s with serious head and internal injuries, however the man died at the scene” police said.
It’s believed the man fell from the third floor of the apartment block.
Police said the incident could be the tragic result of a misadventure, as the man stood on the balcony talking on the phone. He fell onto the concrete driveway directly under the balcony.
Authorities are still trying to contact the man’s next of kin in India. A report is being prepared for the coroner.
