Police spokesperson says investigations continue into Sydney fight between Nepali youths

2 December 2016: Detectives continue to make inquiries into a possible drunken brawl between two Nepali youths that took place around 3 am on the very first day of New Year 2017.

However, a NSW Police spokesperson failed to confirm the injured man was indeed a Nepali youth.

Social media posts and online media outlets have identified the man as Satkar Adhikari, a 22 year old international student from Nepal.

A number of websites confirmed the student’s identity citing Embassy of Nepal in Canberra.

Responding to an email from southasia.com.au, the police spokesperson said no arrest has so far been made in relation to the incident, adding the “victim remains in a stable condition”.

Mr Adhikari was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains in a stable condition, police said, “Officers from Sydney City Local Area Command attended and arrested the second 22-year-old man; however, he’s been released pending further inquiries.”

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
